The Zebra NS42 is a high-performance smart vision sensor designed for demanding machine vision applications in manufacturing, logistics and industrial automation. Equipped with a powerful processor and 8 GB of memory, it handles computationally intensive image processing tasks with ease and is ideally suited to quality inspection, assembly verification, identification and traceability applications. Integrated AI capabilities, including anomaly detection for automatic defect identification and deep learning OCR for text recognition without prior character training, enable even complex inspection tasks to be automated efficiently. Setup and management are handled through Zebra Aurora Focus, a unified software platform for Zebra fixed industrial scanners and vision systems.
The intuitive interface of the Zebra NS42 enables rapid application configuration, while additional machine vision and AI capabilities are available through software licences as requirements evolve. Features such as ImagePerfect+, which captures up to 16 images with different exposure settings from a single trigger, together with a browser-based web HMI dashboard, deliver outstanding inspection quality and provide continuous visibility of device status, utilisation and inspection results. With Gigabit Ethernet, Power over Ethernet (PoE+), USB-C, RS-232 and nine programmable digital I/O ports, the NS42 integrates easily into existing automation environments. Its rugged aluminium housing, rated to IP65/IP67, provides reliable protection against dust, water, chemicals and oil, making it suitable for continuous operation in harsh industrial environments. Combined with modular lighting modules, integrated status indicators and extensive communication protocol support, the Zebra NS42 provides a future-ready platform for advanced machine vision and AI-driven quality inspection.
